Growing up online

Didn't surprise me:
We become "dumb" because we are accustomed to technology that does everything for us.
Most of our time is consumed by being online.
Many percentage of the teens use online the wrong way.
We mostly use internet for social things.
Facebook and Myspace are the websites most used.
We are addicted to internet and online websites and apps.
Cyber bullying is caused by anonymous texts.
Because of online bad actions, real personal and physical fights can arise.
Because online stuff is not private, kids are now more comfortable with themselves than the old days.
Because of social stuff, people change just to fit in.
You can fake your real being.
Small towns have more chance to do bad stuff online because you may know everyone in town.
You post stuff that you would like people to see of you, maybe not the real you.
There's online relationships.
Most teenagers problems are cause by themselves.
The most affected kids are the ones with low self-esteem.
The more you post the more exposed.
Parents can't control the online use of their sons and daughters.
Suicide in teens happen because of online and social webs.
You never know who to trust.

Did surprise me:
How people first love bad internet stuff, but when it gets serious (school gets in it) then they just turn around.
Bullying may start with every single picture or word you post.
Stalkers are worse than meeting the real person.
Why would kids avoid parents when some are not doing something wrong.
1/7 kids have been sexually online.
Online makes people change and sometimes feel worse about them.
Most teens use cameras and online stuff as a counselor and a way to express themselves.
Teens think putting things online and thinking people will accept them will make them popular, and it's the opposite.
Because of family getting involved kids may lose friends.
Parents always take everything personally when they also had secrets and stuff they didn't want to show to their parents.
Small words affect life.
You don't know who you're really talking to.
Suicide becomes like an addiction.
Cyber-bullying causes suicide.
Internet greatly affects how people think about themselves.

Things changed:
Bullying now is much offensive than in those days.
Here in Colombia internet is not such severe.
Nowadays people, themselves, do stuff bad for themselves.
They now don't hurt people because it's fun, but because there's a reason to do so.
Now, online webs and social networks is not that controlled.
Online can be fun but it can also ruin your life, when in that days, it will just ruin your life.
Now the way of kids to escape from bullying is moving out of the city they live on and start new.
Now, bullying is not by words, it's by actions.
Parents don't control you as much.
Nowadays their kids tell most of their lives to parents.
There's more possibility for sexual relationships online.
More predators, stalkers.
You can now find the stalker easier because there's a way to find out who is doing what.
We now use technology more for study use than social events.
We are now more conscious about technology.
There's now hot spot as WiFi.
There's more access of technology everywhere you go.
Technology is now available for everyone because in some places it's free.
Now schools use technology for everything instead of avoiding it.

Paragraphs:
I identify the most with the topic that teens use internet to research things they want to do. Like the story of the girl wanting to be thin. I have heard most of my friends telling me look at this page, it's the new diet, when there's not a doctor actually giving you the diet needed. Internet is a good research but it's not a trustful one. By doing what is in "trend" teens do most things wrong. When you read something in the internet you don't know if it's true or not, you just do it. Us, teens, take everything seriously when we read something in the internet, just like the girl wanting to be thin. Many teens research tips to fit in, when they are probably doing the right thing. I just use internet for study use, and Facebook but not in a bad way, just to talk to the friends I do know.

The most unlike topic was the kid that committed suicide. I've never been through bullying or cyber-bullying. I've never been told bad stuff through online conversations. Here in Colombia that's not very often, the most often one is "pornographic" images teens take about themselves and send it to everyone. I've never been in a difficult situation because of online websites. I've heard many stories about cyber-bullying in the school, just like the one of the little boy. It usually occured most often when we were younger. Adolescence is probably the most difficult time for kids, because changes and differences occur, and because of such, bullying starts. In teens, change and different is bad, when in reality it's great.

My advice for parents on having their kids online, is to talk to their kids about it. Talk to them about the pros and the cons of internet. Teach them and show them real life examples so they know what they're exposed to. I don't think they should have their password because doing mistakes is how you learn. Being a good guidance is the best advice for a parent who's child is online. Being a friend on Facebook is helpful because you can see what your child post and give advice about it. Parents should not be investigating their child's life because that would be very annoying, but being their best friend/ counselour is the best support your kid could have. Having a good relationship with your kid is the best thing you could do as a parent.

Topic: Blogger

Getting started with Blogger...
If you have a Google/Gmail account, you can use that same account as your blogger account by using Gmail email.
By creating your account you should choose a name for your blog which is used as a URL  where anyone that has it can see your blog. Also get familiar with the settings, and layout templates to start off. Also, you can use feed-burner with blogger to optimize your blog with subscriptions, social bookmarks, etc.
How to edit/create a post
Starting
You can upload any image, video or link to your new blog but there's still some limits within it.
Here's a web for template and layout tips...
Hear it from a researcher BLOG VS SITE
Blog Vs Site is probably an opinion... Some people prefer blogging stuff just like a journal while a website is opened to anything. Though, Blogger is a Website. A website is updated not so often while a blog is constantly being updating by new posts. A blogger is much more about information of small companies or works, while a website is usually for big things, big companies world wide or nationally but not so private as a blog. A blog only offers for people that actually have your URL while websites are searched in by Google.
"If you want to add new content like a diary entry use blogs. If you want to keep older material accurate and up to date use a web site."
A website is usually for a start up of an industry or company blogs are more personal. It just depends on what you want your information to look like or what's it for.

If things are still not clear, here's a step by step guidance to create your blogger on blogger.com.

More Further Information:
On your same blogger account you can create different blogs but only with the SAME profile. If you need to do it with different profile, another account is needed.

The things you need to know about Blogger.
Can't find your blog on the dashboard.

Blogger makes part of Google, which is a reliable source and is used world wide. It offers many things in easy and fast processes. Once you create your blog or blog post, you can go back and edit it make any changes as you wish. One thing I learned about is that you can see how many people have seen your blog and from which parts of the world which makes it cool. Blogger is used as a journal or notebook for students and teachers. A "technological journal" This keeps stuff more organized and clear. Instead of using paper we help the environment and we make ourselves more organized. It's also a way to keep information concise because of LINKS.

Google Day #2

Goals:
Research about NABA in Milano.

Investigation:
http://international.naba.it/ba-programs-2/fashion-design/

NABA counts as a Bachelor three year program in any art. I chose fashion design.
NABA counts with two main languages for the fashion world, Italian and English. This university counts with great internships to have experience with the best people in fashion:

"Internships and collaborations with companies
Among others: Valentino Fashion Group SpA, Missoni Spa, Guccio Gucci SpA, Gianni Versace SpA, Carrera’s Srl, E. C. (Costume National) Spa, Lorenzo Riva, Trussardi SpA, Italy Spa Jil Sander, Kenzo, Etro SpA; Moschino Spa."

The three year program includes the following:

  • History of Costume and Fashion
  • Fashion Design
  • Accessories Design
  • Marketing and management
  • Fashion Styling and Communication
Difference between a fashion designer and a fashion stylist:
fashion designer designs and makes clothes, while a fashion stylist picks out clothes for photo shoots, picks out what clothes go on the mannequins in window displays at stores, and decide what clothes are going to be "it" for that season. Fashion stylists need to be active and know lots of cultures to know which trends textiles and styles are being used that time. The fashion designer would probably make more money, but a fashion stylist will have a more stable career because it is needed everywhere and every day while a fashion designer can go bad because of people not buying their designs.

A career of fashion design may take from three to five years. It depends on you wanting to specialize in specific design or going abroad.

Education and Training: Bachelor's or associate's degree
Salary: $55,840 per year

http://www.ehow.com/how-does_4896747_skills-does-fashion-designer-need.html
Designers not only draw color and design, they create feelings and show stories.
..."that illustrate a desired theme or feeling. "

Next Google Day...
Next Google research day I want to go deeper into another institute as istituto marangoni.

Google Day #1

Goals:
Choose my three careers in mind.
Investigate about what is each career.
Where can I study this career?

Investigation:

http://summer.naba.it/fashion/

In this link I found different types of fashion I can study such as:

Fashion Design, Fashion Styling, Fashion Communication, Fashion Management, Fashion Marketing and Merchandising, Fashion Textile, Fashion Accessorize, Fashion Retail.

http://www.wisegeek.org/what-does-a-fashion-designer-do.htm

In this link I got to know what a real fashion designer does.

A designer not only creates ideas of a new master pieces (clothing). A designer brings new ideas and attention to the fashion world, it has to do with culture and fashion all around the world.
There's this thing called the sewing dummy. This is a way designer design, they just get textiles or fabrics and start creating whatever it comes to their mind, not using a story board or sketch like most of the designers do.
The first vision of a designer is who is going to wear this? They need to have an idea to who or what type of people they want their designs for.

http://stylecaster.com/jobswhat-does-designer-do/

Designers have different things to do, but they choose which one to do.
"The design and production process can differ between mass market and high fashion. Some designers specialize in one category of apparel, while others design across a range of clothing and accessories."
Designers travel a lot, they need to see new ideas and customs all around the world to create their master pieces.
What should a Designer have to be really successful?
Aspiring fashion designers should earn an associates or bachelors degree in fashion design. A joint degree in business, marketing, or merchandising can also be helpful for starting your own business. Nowadays designs are made in computer soft-wares.

http://www.academyart.edu/fashion-school/faq/fashion-designer.html

To be able to start being a designer you need to a design portfolio. Academy of Art University is in San Francisco, founded by artists. It's a university that has access to the fashion shows in Fashion Week in New York.

http://www.istitutomarangoni.com/en/courses/fashion-school.php\

Link to Istituto Marangoni. Great institute for fashion designers. You can study merchandising, marketing, design and much more to be a good rounded designer. This institute introduces you to the fashion world.

Next Google day...

I would like to investigate about another career such as interior design or architecture. I am inspired in studying something that has to do with fashion but I don't know what exactly. Learn which career is more successful and what each one is about. Investigate more about NABA bachelor's program.

Viruses

What I know about this topic...
This topic, Viruses, is how a computer can get damaged and can get you as the owner or user in personal risk within different ways. By online creations, adds or advertisements.

What I wonder or questions I have about the topic
I wonder how can I prevent viruses to get to my computer?
If my computer has a viruses how can I get rid of them?
Can people control a virus from another computer?

Links were I found the best information...

Things I learn...
-Viruses are more often from email online messages.
-Viruses can delete information on your computer.
-Viruses can also come from a computer program.
-There are different types of viruses. Worm is one that can spread without people opening some kind of page and it works going from one computer to another taking out information.
-To prevent viruses you can have a virus scan, it would help you by scanning a file before you open it or download any work or program.

Summary about topic...
Anyone can get a virus on their computer. It may damage your computer, take out a lot of information.  You always have to be careful with which files you open up on your email account or the things you may download from the internet. This relates to my life because you will always open up a email message or download whatever thing you need and  you will get a virus on your PC. I'm online everyday of my life. This affects me greatly because I don't know which sources are free from viruses and which one might contain some. You can't prevent it unless you have a type of virus scan or an anti-virus software that will prevent you of having to open up the file.

Questions I still have...
If you have a virus on your computer and you buy an anti-virus does your virus on your computer go away?
Can the virus re-appear if you already eliminated it?

To Do Day-5 Learn Phase

The kids completely liked the game, they enjoyed it and thought it was fun! They also thought it was very difficult. That was their only complain.
We did meet the goals of our game to be able to make it fun. We thought the colors and the difficulty would make a small kid get interested in our game, it totally worked!
Our biggest problem was how the game could support itself. How could it stay tight. Our solution was get more cardboard and put our architecture skills on it. (We made a triangle base). Our "AH HA" idea was when we decided to decorate our project to get the children's attention. We had everything very clear, what our game would be about, for who, and how. We all had great ideas each of our ideas and small details made a great result and impact in our game. My doubts were how can we make such a game with only cardboard? I didn't imagine we could do such game. I thought it was a little impossible, but when we started working on it, I opened my mind and put more effort into it. By putting more effort into it, I realized we could do it, we could create a game with scissors, cardboard and glue. I played the "devil's advocate". I asked everything I'm really perfectionist so I really need to understand and have ideas clear on the things I'm doing. That helped the process because it made us see things that were not good or things that were going bad and won't work. I learned new skills about myself. I learned that I'm a really good team worker. My creativity expanded more, it took me out of that bubble. It made me think more complex, to create something starting with nothing which is the most difficult thing to do.

Design project-day 3

1.It makes our game fun because it is original and really colorful, which makes a small girl really interested.
   - They do match our game because we created our game based on the school stuff we thought of.
2. We want to keep the colors, the overall price girls get by winning, and the balls needed to play the game.
3. Our game is pretty simple, there's nothing we can change to make it simpler. If it were for older girls the game would be more complicated.

Making a Build Plan...
1. We first start by designing the model on paper, to have an idea of what it will look like.
- We first start out with a cardboard to make the base. Apply the holes on the cardboard with scissors.
-Make a cardboard channel so the balls roll down.
-Put a bucket to collect the balls below the base.
-Attach the game to a wall with masking tape.

Supplies:
-crowns (Princess prices).
- Two wood bases.
We all buy this stuff together.

Design project-day 1

Ivana Klahr
Daniela Velez
Daniela Pedraza

DEFINE PHASE:
-For: Primary girls.
-Difficulty: Medium.
-A fun and successful game:

  • Attractive
  • Pink
  • Dolls
  • Colors
  • Toys
  • Glitter
  • Goals
  • Prices
  • Beauty/make up
RESEARCH PHASE:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYRZcWa0zJI

In this video, the level was medium because it's a low probability the ball will enter the small whole with obstacles to get there. I think it should be more attractive and more fun/joyful. I thought it was pretty boring.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=sd7x-F5irBY

I think this game was really creative and fun. Small kids love getting tickets for their prices. It's an entertaining game. The way how the tickets are thrown should be improved.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJWF-nyZFvk

This game is a pinball made with cardboard, I thought the idea was great, but I think it should work better, because the game ended really fast and not really enjoying it. If it's done more complex it could be more fun.

IDEATION PHASE:
About the games...
-Difficulty is good.
-Pinball game was fun and creative, entertaining.
-Tickets to be involved.
Brainstorm...
-Pink and silver glitter.
- Skee Ball
-Count points final price a crown.
-Princess
-Frog
-Throws ball and falls in a whole.
Fun Stuff...
-price
-attractive
-think it's easy
Things could go wrong...
-Cardboard breaks.
-a girl sees the whole and poops.
-steal the crown.
-throw food at the game.
-If no adult is supervising everything can go wrong.
